Frequently Asked Questions
What is the goal of the ETG program?
The Emerging Talent Group is designed to provide a high-level development environment with an added layer of challenge, intensity, and detail. It bridges the gap between Junior Development and the Youth Talent Development Programme (TDP), offering a professional-grade product that focuses on clear individual growth areas while remaining an affordable option for our club families.
Who will be coaching the sessions?
Sessions are led by our Professional Coaching Staff, including Academy Manager Nathan Cranney and senior coaches. This ensures all players receive high-level instruction consistent with our Auckland FC partnership standards.
What is the weekly training schedule?
To help families organise logistics, the sessions are 90 minutes long (5:00 PM – 6:30 PM) and are scheduled by age group:
-
Grade 10: Wednesdays
-
Grade 11: Tuesdays
-
Grade 12: Thursdays
How does this fit with other football commitments?
The ETG is a primary development pathway. Due to the 90-minute duration and the technical intensity, we recommend players prioritise this over external private academies or separate sports to manage their overall physical load and ensure they get the most out of the program.
Does the program include Futsal?
Yes. We have integrated Futsal into the curriculum in July. This provides a welcome break from the winter weather while focusing on the high-speed close control and decision-making that Futsal is known for.
Is my child a good fit for ETG?
The program is aimed at players who demonstrate a strong attitude, high levels of commitment, and a desire for more "intensity and detail" in their training. If your child is motivated to reach the next level of the player pathway, this is the right environment for them.
What is the cost, and what does it cover?
The cost is $450, which covers all professional coaching sessions and the Futsal block from the start of the program through to the end of Term 3.
How do we apply?
Due to limited spacing to maintain coaching quality, all players must apply via the online form. The deadline for applications is April 18.
