Hibiscus Coast AFC History and Strategic Overview
Established in 1974 by Clarrie Morgan, Hibiscus Coast Association Football Club (HBCAFC) has grown from humble beginnings into one of the largest and most vibrant sports organisations on the Coast. Based at our scenic home in Stanmore Bay, we are the "Home of Football" for the Whangaparāoa and Silverdale communities, operating across Stanmore Bay Park, Victor Eaves, William Bays, Edith Hopper, and Metro Park.
HBCAFC is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing football for all ages and abilities. We believe community sport is built on a foundation of passion, and we strive to develop, nurture, and foster a lifelong love for the game in every player who wears our colours.
Our Scale & Community Reach
Today, HBCAFC is a vital pillar of local life, engaging over 3,500 active participants annually. Our reach extends year-round through our Winter Membership (1,500+ players), Summer & Recreational Leagues (1,500+ players), and our extensive Schools & Outreach programs. Each year, we facilitate over 120,000 visits to Stanmore Bay Park, creating a massive footprint of family-oriented activity.
Our Diversity & Inclusion
We reflect the evolving face of the Hibiscus Coast. Our club is a multicultural hub, with 27% of our members identifying as Māori, Asian, MELAA, or other diverse ethnic groups. We are also a leader in female game development, with over 400 female players and dedicated pathways designed to provide equitable resources and opportunities for girls and women in sport.
OUR PEOPLE
Everyone should enjoy football. The majority of our membership is under the age of 18, and we are committed to providing world-class environments for our youth. From our "Saturday Morning Hub" for over 1,000 Mini & Junior players to our elite Talent Development Programme (TDP) for performance athletes, we challenge and grow our players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
OUR CAPABILITY
A strong club requires sustainable administration. We focus our energy on robust governance, innovative funding, and professional operational management. By building a capable and financially stable club, we ensure that HBCAFC remains a permanent fixture of the Coast for generations to come.
OUR COMMUNITY
Behind every strong club is a thriving, supportive community. We work closely with local groups, schools, and partners to ensure we are an integral part of the Hibiscus Coast. We offer more than just a place to play; we offer a connection to a diverse and highly engaged network of local families.
OUR ENVIRONMENT
We are committed to providing the best possible physical and social environment. Whether on the pitch or in the clubrooms, we continually improve the experience so our community has the very best place to train, play, and socialise.
Join the Movement
Whether you are a new player, an aspiring coach, a referee, or a volunteer, HBCAFC welcomes you. Join us as we continue to grow, compete, and enrich the culture of our beautiful coast.
